Theevapotranspirationestimationtooldevelopedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisindeficit.Thecropping&irrigationchoicesarenotappropriateandneedtobealteredtoshiftthedeficitwaterbalance.
Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis8mmforanaverageannualrainfallof622mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris49.7mm(70%of71mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(214mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis272(=214+8+50)
Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis496mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas620mm(i.e.125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsishigherby348mm,i.e.(620-272).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsisonly58%ofrainfall.Hence,thereisagoodopportunitytoharvesttheexcesswaterthroughwatershedmanagementpracticesforutilizingduringrabiseason.
ThetotalnumberofwellspresentinTurkMadhawarSub-watershedasperLRIdatais15Borewells.ThegroundwaterleveldataobtainedfromDept.ofMines&GeologyfortheneareststationTurkMadhawar.Thegroundwaterlevelduringtheyears2011-2017wereslightlyvarying,whereasduringtheyear2014wasfoundconstant.
