77%,11%and12%oftheannualrainfalloccursduringkharif,rabiandsummerseasonsrespectivelyandexhibitedahighertemporalvariability.
Theevapotranspirationestimationtooldevelopedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisindeficit.Thecropping&irrigationchoicesarenotappropriateandneedtobealteredtoshiftthedeficitwaterbalance.
Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis16mmforanaverageannualrainfallof753mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris38.5mm(70%of55mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(123mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis177(=123+38+16)
Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis503mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas629mm(i.e125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsishigherby452mm,i.e.(629-177).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsisonly53%ofrainfall.Hence,thereisagoodopportunitytoharvesttheexcesswaterthroughwatershedmanagementpracticesforutilizingduringrabiseason.
ThetotalnumberofwellspresentinHalikherSub-watershedasperLRIdataare7(4-Borewellsand3-Openwells).ThegroundwaterlevelwasfoundfromthedataobtainedfromKSNDMCfortheneareststationSonath.Thegroundwaterlevelsduringtheyears2008-2017wereslightlyvaryingexceptfortheyear2016.
