Theevapotranspirationestimationtooldevelopedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisindeficit.Thecropping&irrigationchoicesarenotappropriateandneedtobealteredtoshiftthedeficitwaterbalance.
Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis31mmforanaverageannualrainfallof824mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris37mm(70%of53mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(323mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis391(=323+31+37)
Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis617mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas771mm(i.e.125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsishigherby380mm,i.e.(771-391).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsis98%ofrainfall.Hence,thereisslightlylessopportunitytoharvesttheexcesswaterthroughwatershedmanagementpracticesforutilizingduringrabiseason.
ThetotalnumberofwellspresentinKibbanahalliSub-watershedasperLRIdataare232(221-Borewellsand11-Openwells).ThegroundwaterleveldataobtainedfromDept.ofMines&GeologyfortheneareststationSalakatte.Thegroundwaterlevelsduringtheyears2008-2009wereslightlyvaryingexceptfortheyear2014.
