75%,13%and12%oftheannualrainfalloccursduringkharif,rabiandsummerseasonsrespectivelyandexhibitedahighertemporalvariability.
Theevapotranspirationestimationtooldevelopedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisindeficit.Thecropping&irrigationchoicesarenotappropriateandneedtobealteredtoshiftthedeficitwaterbalance.
Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis2mmforanaverageannualrainfallof855mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris37mm(70%of53mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(197mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis236(=197+37+2)
Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis522mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas652mm(i.e125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsishigherby416mm,i.e.(652-236).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsisonly50%ofrainfall.Hence,thereisagoodopportunitytoharvesttheexcesswaterthroughwatershedmanagementpracticesforutilizingduringrabiseason.
ThegroundwaterlevelwasfoundfromthedataobtainedfromKSNDMCfortheneareststationGundgurthi.Thegroundwaterlevelsduringtheyears2008-2017wasslightlyvaryingexceptMay2016.
