The issues related to aquaculture and environment belongs to two broad categories - impact of aquaculture on environment and impact of environment on aquaculture. When compared to other industries, pollution from aquaculture sector is negligible. The degradation of aquaculture land due to pesticide residues and heavy metals discharged from agriculture and industries is threatening the aquaculture activity, which are often overlooked, and ignored such adverse impacts of the environment on aquaculture. Aquaculture has both positive and negative impacts; where the advantages comparative outweigh the low adverse effects.
