Coldwater fisheries resources were digitized and assessed using Remote sensing (RS) and Geographical Information System (GIS) for future planning. We found that the major lotic water resources such as rivers and their tributaries having total length 10893.5 km in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K), 10464.3 km in Himachal Pradesh (HP), 10927.9 km in Uttarakhand (UK), 2319.5 km in Sikkim and 12351 km in Arunachal Pradesh (AP). Total water spread area of natural and man-made lentic water resources such as lakes and reservoirs were assessed as 154248.4 hectare (ha) in J&K, 35481.54 ha in HP, 21503.7 ha in the UK, 1593.3 ha in Sikkim and 2808.1 ha in AP. The study may end up the discrepancies in the coldwater aquatic resources for their location and situation specific future planning for sustainable fisheries development.
