A study was conducted in Tiruvllur and Thanjavur Districts of Tamil Nadu to assess the Agro-ecosytem profile of farmers in different farming systems. The Systems with fishery component was found to possess large form size, the vice-versa was noticed in systems combining horticultural components. The cropping intensity and livestock holding were found to be high although farmers of these systems use relatively more of village tanks and own wells for irrigation purposes. Farmers and policy makers need to educated about the importance of diversified farming systems their contribution to food, and nutritional security so that existing policies and programmes can be reoriented to meet the needs of future.
