Description An experiment was conducted during 2001-03 to evaluate the insecticidal property of leaves of Eucalyptus camalduletzsis Dehnhardt (Myrtaceae), nlophora indica (Burm.F.) Merr., Ocimrtni sanctum L., Lantana canlava L. and rhizomes of Curcumrr longa L. against Helicoverpa armigera (Hubbner) larvae following chronic feeding bioassays under laboratory conditions. The treatments adversely affected the larval development, survival and weight; number of days to pupation, percentage normal pupation, pupal weight and percentage adult emergence. T. indica and E. carnalduler~siss howed significant growth retardation of H. armigera larvae ultimately leading to 100% mortality and restricting the growth up to 3rd instar stage. Larval weight significantly reduced by 92 and 90% with E. camalduletzsi and Oczmunz sanctum respectively whereas L. camara, and C. longa caused 56 and 69% inhibition. T. inriica and E. carnaldulensis were found to be promising plant species for H. armigera management.
