Chidambaram and Kuriyan, (1952) gave a brief account of the grey mullets (Mugil spp.) of Krusadai Island in the Gulf of Mannar. The present study on the biology of Liza macrolepis (Smith) and Mugil cephalus Linnaeus from the Palk Bay was taken up since no information on these fishes is available. The food habits of Liza macrolepis and Mugil cephalus and the shedding of gill raker processes in grey mullets have been dealt with elsewhere. (Luther 1962 & 1964). Not Available |
