Description |
A study was conducted on 40 crosses and 14 parents (10 lines and 4 testers) for the combining ability effects inrespect of different fatty acids in sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) during 1994-95 at Ludhiana. The results showedthat non-additive gene effects were more important than additive efrect for all except palmitic acid. 'PISF 22' wasidentified as the, most suitable parent for oleic acid. Based on sca effect for oleic acid 3 cross combinations, viz '10 A'x 'PISF 22', '10 A' x 'PISF 23' and '336 A' x 'PISF 106' were most promising.
