Description A study was conducted during 1996-97 to evaluate 9 upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) genotypes along with checkvariety 'LRA 5166' for stability in 4 agronornically differents environments. Pooled analysis revealed signficantdifferences among the cultivars, environments and environment (linear) for seed cotton Yield suggesting the presenceof genetic variability in the cultivars, difference in environments under investigation aud their. predominant effect onyield. The genotype X environment interaction was highly significant suggesting that the genotypes interacted considerablywith the environment in the expression of yield. The linear component of V x E was non-significant, indicates thegenotypes responded non-linearly to the change in environment. The stability analysis for individual genotype showed'GISC 86/58' was more stable for seed cotton yield followed by 'GJHS 34'
