Description An experiment was conducted during the winter season of 1997-98 and 1998-99 to study the efficacy of mancozeb, wettable sulphur, captan, carbendazim and zinc sulphate for the management of lentil rust [Uroniyces viciae-fabae (Pers.) Schroet]. Being highly ecofriendly zinc sulphate (17.8%) was statistically at par with mancozeb (12.3%), wettable sulphur (17.8%), carbendazim (21.6%) and captan (21.1%) in respect of rust severity and yield in lentil (1432.5, 1490.5, 1474, 1434.5 and 1443.5 kg/ha, respectively, compared with 40.5% and 1306.5 kg/ha in the control). Per rupee return was highest (3.0) in wettable sulphur followed by zinc sulphate (2.7), mancozeb (2.5), carbendazim (1.6) and captan (1.5).
