The study examines the histopathological changes in tomato roots infected with Rotylenchulus reniformis at different stages of its development. The cells at the feeding site in pericycle were transformed into a semilunar sheet of hypertrophied cells. The mechanism of nurse cell formation was observed. The observed similarities and dissimilarities of the cells at the feeding site are analysed. The half circle sheet formed in pericycle is termed as 'Semilunar'sheet of pericycle cells.
