Description A study has been undertaken during 1994-95 to analyze the cost structure along with the size and productivity relationship in sericulture for different districts of west Bengal. Cost of labour(both in moriculture and rearing) is found to be the most important item and expenditure towards labour utilization is comparatively higher for rearers having marginal land holding and causing negative net return for this group too. While establishing the size and productivity relation,it is observed that though differences are there, net return is optimized at mulberry land holding of 0.50 acre in most of the districts at the existing production pattern.
