Quantitative and qualitative post harvest losses of fruits and vegetables from harvesting to consumption are still high in developing and under developed countries. Introduction of simple packaging techniques like individual shrink wrapping would help in reduction of these losses in these perishable commodities. Shrink packaging reduces shrinkage without refrigeration or humidity control and it doubles and at times triples the storage life of the fruits and vegetables as measured by appearance, firmness, shrinkage, weight loss and other keeping qualities.
