In a study conducted at the ICAR- Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Hessaraghatta, Bengaluru on pot
mums, chrysanthemum cv. Sadhbhavana, was grown in pots on seven different potting media combinations, the constituents being soil, sand, FYM, cocopeat and vemicompost. Cocopeat + Sand + FYM +Vermicompost
(2:1:0.5:0.5v/v) was found to be one of the best potting media combinations resulting in the production of highest number of flowers per plant (192.02) with prolonged flowering duration (101.83 days) as compared to other cocopeat based and conventional media. Increase in floriferousness is significantly and positively correlated with the production of more number of branches per plant (0.76) and the plant spread (0.91).
