The problems responsible for low economic potential of litchi cultivation in various litchi growing regions include availability of genuine propagating material, poor fruit set, heavy fruit drop, fruit cracking and inferior fruit quality. Litchi bears heavy crop in one year and light or no crop in the adjoining year.
