The withdrawal line of the Southwest Monsoon continues to pass through Lat.
27°N/Long.90°E, Cooch Behar, Sriniketan, Ranchi, Pendra Road, Mandla,
Narsinghpur, Indore, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Porbandar, Lat.21°N/Long.65°E and
Lat.21°N/Long.60°E.
• Conditions continue to be favourable for further withdrawal of Southwest
Monsoon from remaining parts of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh,
Gujarat and North & Central Arabian Sea; some parts of Odisha and north
Maharashtra during next 2-days and from remaining parts of West Bengal,
Sikkim, Odisha, Telengana, parts of north-eastern states, Andhra Pradesh and
most parts of Maharashtra during subsequent 2 days.
• With likely setting in of northeasterly winds in the lower tropospheric levels over
Bay of Bengal and extreme south peninsular India, the southwest monsoon is
likely to withdraw from entire country around 28 October, 2020. Simultaneously,
the Northeast Monsoon rains are also likely to commence over Tamil Nadu and
Puducherry, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining areas of Karnataka and
Kerala around 28 Oct, 2020.
• The Depression over Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast moved northnortheastwards with a speed of 24 kmph during past 06 hours and lay centred at
0830 hrs IST of today, the 23rd October, 2020 near Latitude 21.3°N & Longitude
88.4°E over Northwest Bay of Bengal off West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts, about 50
km southeast of Sagar Islands (West Bengal) and 200 km west-southwest of
Khepupara (Bangladesh). It is very likely to move north-northeastwards and cross
West Bengal & adjoining Bangladesh coasts between Sagar Islands (West Bengal)
and Khepupara (Bangladesh) over Sundarbans around noon of today, the 23rd
October, 2020. Under the influence of above system:
• Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at a few
places and extremely heavy falls at isolated places very likely over Tripura; heavy
to very heavy falls at a few places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and south

Assam & Meghalaya. Light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy falls at
isolated places likely over remaining districts of Assam on 23rd October, 2020.
• Sea Condition will be rough to very rough over North Bay of Bengal and along &
off north Odisha-West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts. Fishermen are advised not to
venture into these areas during next 24 hours.
