A Low Pressure area is very likely to form over south Andaman Sea and
neighbourhood around 30th April. It is very likely to become more marked and
concentrate into a depression during subsequent 48 hours and likely to intensify
further thereafter during the subsequent 24 hours. It is very likely to move northnorthwestwards initially and then north-northeastwards along Andaman &
Nicobar Islands towards Myanmar coast during 30th April – 3rd May. Under its
influence, Squally winds, speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph on 30th
April & 01st May over north Sumatra coast, south Andaman Sea, Nicobar Islands
and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal and wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph
gusting to 70 kmph over north Andaman Sea, Andaman Islands and adjoining
southeast & eastcentral Bay of Bengal on 02nd & 03rd May. Heavy to very heavy
rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy falls at isolated places are also likely
over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 02nd May.
• Under the influence of trough/Wind Discontinuity across Peninsular India,
scattered to fairly widespread rain/thundershowers are likely over Kerala &
Mahe during next 3 days, over Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
during next 24 hours and over Maharashtra, Goa and north Interior Karnataka
mainly during 29th April to 01st May. Isolated thunderstorms, lightning, gusty
winds (30-40 kmph) are also likely over these regions during this period.
• Fairly widespread to widespread rain/thundershowers are likely to continue over
West Bengal & Sikkim during next 4-5 days and scattered to fairly widespread
rain/thundershowers over northeast Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and adjoining
Jharkhand during 30th April-02nd May. Isolated thunderstorms, lightning, gusty
winds (40-50 kmph) are also likely over these regions during this period.
• An approaching Western Disturbance is likely to cause isolated to scattered
rain/thundershowers over Western Himalayan Region, Punjab and Haryana,
Chandigarh & Delhi from tomorrow with peak activity around 30th April-01st
May.
