Due to moisture incursion from both Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal in low
tropospheric levels, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall activity is very likely to
continue over parts of East & Northeast India during next 2 days with peak
activity over Odisha, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal today. Isolated heavy
rainfall over East India and isolated thunderstorm/thundersquall likely over East
and NorthEast India. Scattered to fairly widespread rain/thundershowers also
very likely over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and plains of North India
(mainly over Punjab,Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi and Uttar Pradesh) during
next 24 hours. Isolated hailstorms and gusty winds are also likely over the region
during this period.
• Under the influence of trough/Wind Discontinuity across Peninsular India, fairly
widespread rainfall/thundershower activity along with isolated heavy rainfall
likely over Kerala & Mahe during next 3-4 days. Rainfall activity likely to
continue over Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal
for subsequent 4 days. isolated thunderstorms, hailstorms, lightning, gusty winds
& heavy rainfall are also likely over these regions during this period.
• A Low Pressure area is very likely to form over south Andaman Sea and
neighbourhood around 30th April. It is very likely to become more marked and
concentrate into a depression during subsequent 48 hours. It is very likely to
move north-northwestwards initially and then north-northeastwards along
Andaman & Nicobar Islands towards Myanmar coast during 30th April – 3rd
May. Under its influence, Squally winds, speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to
60 kmph on 30th April and wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph
on 1st May, likely to prevail over north Sumatra coast, south Andaman Sea,
Nicobar Islands and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal.
