Description |
A field experiment was conducted during 1990-91 and 1991-92 the rainy (kharif) and winter (rabi) season tostudy the yield and quality of blackgram (Phaseolus mungo L.) and Indian mustard (Brassica juncea (L.) Czernj. &Cosson) as influenced by different levels of nitrogen, phosphorus and sulphur in blackgram-mustard cropping sequence. The soil was Inceptisol, neutral in reaction, low in organic carbon, available nitrogen and sulphur, medium inphosphorus and high in potassium. Application of 30 kg N, 26.20 kg P and 60 kg S/ha to blackgram gave the maximumseed yield (0.75,0.76 and 0.70 tonnes/ha), stover yield (2.96, 3.02 and 2.75 tOlmes/ha), 1 OOO-seed weight (38.9,39.3and 38.7g) and net return (Rs 3 293,3 093 and 2 689/ha). In case of mustard, the highest seed yield (2.20, 2.24 and 2.28tonnes/ha), stover yield (6.12, 6.27 and 6.33 tonnes/ha), 1 OOO-seed weight ( 5.1, 5.2 and 5.1g) and net return (Rs 15646,15 838 and 16 433/ha) were recorded under 90 kg N, 17.46 kg P and 60 kg S/ha. Nutrients uptake(N, P, Sand K)in blackgram and mustard was also influenced significantly by nitrogen, phosphorus and sulphur.
