Lizardfishes are one of the major demersal
resources, which contribute 5.3% of the total marine
landings of Kerala. They are locally known as
“Aranameen” and are sold and consumed in fresh
and dried condition in Kerala, and support a regular
fishery. The lizardfish landings in commercial
trawlers along Kerala during the period 2007-2016
was 1,05,848 tonnes (t), with an annual average
catch of 10,858 t, which constituted 5.3% of the
total marine landings of Kerala.
