Description |
Fish can be cultured in any of the four prevailing culture systems like ponds, raceways, recirculating systems or cages. A cage or net pen is a system that confines the fish or shellfish in a meshed en¬closure and allows it to grow in its natural environment. The cage aquaculture initiated in Norway during 70s got developed into a high tech industry in many countries all over the world for high valued fishes. Cage culture is accessing and expanding into new untapped open-water culture areas like reservoirs, lakes, rivers and coastal brackish and marine inshore and offshore waters globally.Cage culture can be established in any suitable body of water, including lakes, ponds, mining pits, streams or rivers with proper water quality, access and legal authority. |
