Description |
Body is cylindrical, robust, with broad head. The width of head is more than width of the mouth cleft; adipose eyelid is highly developed, more than that of other mugilid species, covering most of the pupil; upper lip is thin, no papillae, labial teeth of upper jaw small, straight, and dense, in several rows; mouth cleft ends below posterior nostril. Two dorsal fins; the first one has 4 spines; the second has 8-9 soft rays. |
