Description |
Detoxification of aflatoxins in the poultry mixed feed naturally contaminated at the level of 775±25 ppb was done using chemicals, viz. sodium bisulfite (NaHSH) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH). These animals at different levels (0.25, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0%) were used to treat the contaminated poultty feed at 3 moisture levels (10, 15 and 20%). The treated feed samples were screened for aflatoxins after 24 hr, 10 days and 1 month by pressure mini column. Sodium bisulfite at 0.5% and sodium hydroxide at 2.0% concentration, at 29% moisture level could detoxify the aflatoxins to bring the level below the tolerance level of 30 ppb set by Government of India under the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act.
