Description Under the marker-assisted introgression of naked gene, two types ofbackcrosses (Bel) were developed. Naked neck FI (progenies of naked neck broiler sire and White Leghorn dams) males were mated with recipient WLH females to produce type A BCI progenies, while reciprocal mating produced type B BCI progenies. Naked neck grand sire and 76 BCI progenies (37 of type A and 39 of type B) were genotyped with 10 informative microsatellites markers. The parental genomic proportion ofgrand sire in BCI progenies, estimated as band sharing (BS) between grand sire and BCI progenies ranged from 0.58 to 0.85 with an average of 0.72±O.07. Within population genetic similarity in type A, type B crosses and BCI population were O.659±O.049, O.611±O.058 and 0.635±0.052 respectively. Both crosses showed a very high genetic similarity with each other as the average band sharing between both populations was 0.927±O.026 and genetic distance was O.093±O.038. It was concluded that microsateIIite markers are useful in detecting variability in closely related individuals. However, more number ofinformative markers covering entire genome could give accurate and reliable predictions ofparental genome in backcross progenies.
