Description The offer, availability, and characteristics of cultivated land, cropping systems, yields, the socioeconomic profile of farmers, production vol. and costs, and the marketing of root and tuber crops grown in St. Kitts (sweet potato, yam, cocoyam, taro, and potato) are briefly analyzed. Government policies on root crop production are reviewed. There is only limited production of cassava starch and CM. (CIAT)
Se analizan brevemente la oferta, la disponibilidad y las caracteristicas de la tierra sembrada, los sistemas de cultivo, los rendimientos, el perfil socioeconomico de los productores, el vol. y los costos de produccion, y el mercadeo de los cultivos de raices y tuberculos en San Cristobal (batata, name, ocumo, malangay y papa). Se revisan las politicas gubernamentales relacionadas con la produccion de cultivos de raices. Solo hay una limitada produccion de almidon de yuca y HIY. (CIAT)
