Description Diagnosis plays an important role in any disease control programme. The realization that
techniques applied for human medicine and farm animal medicine can be equally used for aquatic
animal disease management led to the application of all diagnostic tests in this field also. The
immuno-diagnostic tests utilize the body’s reaction against foreign substances. These reactions are
of two types, one that secrete the specialized globulins (immunoglobulins) and the other generating
sensitized cells. Though both these mechanisms can be utilized for diagnosis, the first one is
extensively used because of its easy interpretation, convenience and simplicity
