India with 157.35 million hectares holds the second largest agricultural land in the world. India has made impressive strides on the agricultural front during the last three decades. Since 2011 has shown that every fourth person of the labour Force is an agricultural worker in India. In agrarian societies, women are the backbone of the development of rural and national economies. They comprise 43% of the world's agricultural labour force, which has risen up to 70% in some countries like India. According to Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO, 2011), women have an important role in agriculture as well as in other rural economic activities in India. Agriculture is the most important sector of Indian economy. Indian agriculture sector accounts food 18% of India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and provides employment to 50% of the countries worldwide. Not Available |
