Description |
Single oral administration of acephate @ 400 and 800 mg/kg body weight produced mild to severe toxic symptoms of anticholinesterase poisoning with 0 and 100% lethality in buffalo calves respectively. Acephate at both the-doses produced significant inhibition of erythrocyte cholinesterase (50.6-69.9%) and plasma carboxylesterase (29.3-44.7%) and marked elevation in plasma levels of acid phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase in buffalo calves. The study shows that acephate is moderately toxic to buffalo species.
