Report from the Center Directors Committee on various aspects of integrated property rights, in response to recommendations of the CGIAR System Review. The report was prepared by the Director General of CIMMYT, T. G. Reeves, on behalf of a CDC committee on intellectual property. It reviews actions taken by centers collectively and individually in relation to: genomics, molecular breeding, and bioengineering; and management of intellectual property. The latter heading includes progress on the creation of a central advisory service at ISNAR, audits of intellectual property, and plans for a study of the feasibility of a wholly owned subsidiary to hold patents for centers and act on their behalf.Attached to the report are terms of reference for a center review of IPR management as revised in March 1999, and thoughts by T. G. Reeves on the development of a wholly owned subsidiary for CGIAR intellectual property, including comments by John Barton.Agenda document, CGIAR Mid Term Meeting, May 1999, discussed under the heading of Consultative Council Propositions on Science.
