Corrected version of the report of the May 19, 1987 meeting of the CGIAR Committee on the IBPGR. At that meeting, the Committee considered the February 1987 agreement between the FAO and the IBPGR and its implementation. The agreement addressed FAO-IBPGR relations, and the issue of the IBPGR's management as an independent IARC which had been a matter of considerable concern to the CGIAR. The Committee was satisfied with the agreement and its initial implementation. Because the present agreement lasted only through the end of 1988, the Committee decided to remain in existence in the expectation that early in that year the initial round of substantive actions would have been completed and recommendations made for a permanent agreement.
