Title Technical Advisory Committee Thirty-Fifth Meeting, 29 October - 3 November 1984: Report of the Meeting

Creator CGIAR Technical Advisory Committee

Description Report of the 35th Meeting of TAC, held in Washington DC, October 29 - November 3, 1984, Professor Guy Camus presiding. TAC considered the external program and management reviews (EPR and EMR) of ICRISAT, and prepared a commentary for the CGIAR. On the basis of a report from the chair of the EMR panel that WARDA had made little progress in implementing the management changes proposed in its EMR, TAC explicitly withheld its endorsement of the June 1984 recommendation of WARDA's program and budget for 1985 pending satisfactory evidence of progress.TAC considered a first draft of its review of priorities for the CGIAR, endorsed its structure, and decided to further refine the draft during its next two meetings, for submission to the CGIAR in November 1985. The Chair of the Center Directors, Dr. William Gamble, presented a draft paper on inter-center cooperation for discussion. TAC also discussed preliminary outputs of the CGIAR training study. The Committee reviewed its role in the CGIAR budget process with Mr. Richard Clifford who was preparing a study on financial management, reporting and budgeting in the CGIAR. TAC approved the approach to be taken to center p&bs for 1986. TAC heard a presentation from Dr. L. Kahre, chairman of the IBPGR, on relationships with the FAO, and the Commission on Plant Genetic Resources. It would continue to monitor this subject. The TAC Chairman reported orally on TAC 35 to the CGIAR meeting in November 1984. The and the report was formally tabled at the CGIAR meeting in June 1985.
