Milk samples from cows and buffaloes in industry free rural localities were also analysed. The mean cadmium concentration in milk from industry free rural localities was 0.004±0.001 g/ml. The mean cadmium concentrations within 0-2.0 km vicinity oftextile, petrochemical and metallurgical industries were 0.008±0.001, 0.012±0.003 and 0.008±0.001 g/ml of milk which were significantly higher than the industry free rural localities.
