Description Aloe vera was evaluated for antibacterial properties against pathogenic strains of gram-positive bacteria (Sluphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidydis) as well as gram negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginvsa, Salmonella Typhimurium). Go-mutra (cow's urine) extract was found most active and its activity was compared to standard antibiotics gentamycin (30 mcg), ampicillin (I Omcg), doxycylin (30 mcg) and erythromycin (10 mcg) against these strains. Only the clinical isolates ofS. aureus had shown susceptibility against go-mutra extract to other strains. Thus, the LIse of go-mutra extract from Aloe vera as a potent antiseptic in prevention and treatment of antibacterial infections, has been suggested.
