Description The aim of this study was to obtain baseline data from cattle and dairy producers from the Patía and Mercaderes Municipalities in the Colombian Cauca Department in order to describe the status quo in terms of:


  • Farm characteristics


  • Land use


  • Herd sizes


  • Farm management


  • Land management (e.g. use of improved forages, conservation practices)


  • Animal management


  • Labor use


  • Purchase of inputs


  • Sales of animals, milk


  • Supplier-producer-client relations


  • Collaboration among producers


  • Technical assistance, capacity building, rural extension


  • Access to inputs, credits, infrastructure


  • Producer knowledge of climate change and payment schemes for environmental services
