Description |
This file contains a 1-in-100 sample from the full 1970 Census of Population of Korea. It was supplied to the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) by the Bureau of Statistics of Korea as part of ESCAP'S regional program for collection of censuses and surveys of member countries. Details were collected in person by a house-to-house canvass. There were an initial set of 80,000 enumeration districts, covering basic questions. These complete count topics include:name, relationship to head of household, sex, age, date of birth, marital status, school attendance, educational attainment and literacy. A longer questionnaire was used for a 10% sample of the population. The additional topics include place of birth, duration of residence, previous residence, number of children ever born, activity status, employment status, industry, occupation, class of worker, and months worked in the last year. The (data) file contains unaggregated records of a one percent sample extracted from the date of the 1970 census op population of the Republic of Korea. The sampling unit is not a household, but an individual person. However, it is possible to make some analyses on a family basis through selected all household head records, and using the household record items attached to each head of household. |
