Description |
Report of the TAC fact finding mission in April 1989 to the International Board for Soil Research and Management (IBSRAM) chaired by M.H. Arnold. IBSRAM was one of ten nonassociated centers being considered for sponsorship by the CGIAR. Missions were to provide TAC with the information needed for recommending whether the Group should incorporate the center. The report described the history and mandate of IBSRAM, its program, research results and impact, and governance and management structure. It provided a brief summary of IBSRAM's relations with other institutions, including IARCs, and a profile of its physical, human, and financial resources. The report concluded by relaying issues and concerns expressed by IBSRAM regarding its present funding and operations, and whether the CGIAR shared the priority its program placed on adaptive research and the mobilization of existing technologies. There were no recommendations from the mission. One of nine such reports considered in closed session at TAC 49.
