Plant proteomes are profoundly affected by biotic and abiotic stresses, including changes in protein abundances, cellular localization, posttranscriptional and posttranslational modifications (PTMs), protein interactions with other protein partners, and, finally, protein biological functions. Reduced crop yield results from these stress-induced modifications. As a result, a comprehensive method of expedited gene identification using genomics, proteomics, and some other allied omic branches of biotechnology is proven to be a successful technique to advance crop improvement programs worldwide. Accelerated advancements in omic databases will become crucial in the near future, prompting urgent attention for the proper application of these approaches to create next-generation crops for farmers. The information recorded by omic technologies is used in the significant number of biotechnological uses. The most recent exceptional advancements in proteomic platforms, as well as various other yet related achievements in plant biotechnology approaches, provide a number of novel strategies to encourage plant scientists to adopt these technologies for crop improvement programmes. In this chapter, we will discuss on proteomics as a tool for analyzing plant responses to abiotic and biotic stresses, as well as cases of how it is been used to boost conventional crop improvement programs
