Description This learning module shows how gender equity and social inclusion (GESI) considerations can be identified and integrated in programmes and initiatives in the Water-Energy-Food Environment (WEFE) Nexus. Intentionally focusing on gender and social inclusion in designing, implementing and monitoring Water-Energy-Food Environment initiatives is critical to ensure that these initiatives benefit and do not harm women and other marginalised groups and communities.

At the end of this module, learners will be able to: (1) Explain the importance of gender equity and social inclusion for achieving sustainable development outcomes in the WEFE Nexus, (2) Describe common gender and social inclusion challenges and issues that WEFE projects face, (3) Describe the main steps for better addressing gender and social inclusion considerations.

This module is intended for a broad audience that is working on, or interested in, cross-sectoral issues around sustainable use of water, energy, food and ecosystems, including decision-makers in public and private sectors as well as from civil society, practitioners and project implementers, graduate students and researchers, and donors
