CGIAR annual report covering financial information for 1994 and other matters through mid 1995. The report has three themes: the 18 month process of renewal initiated at MTM94 with its highpoint at the Ministerial level meeting in Lucerne, Switzerland in February 1995; financial highlights for 1994, and research issues and accomplishments. An introduction by Executive Secretary Alexander von der Osten is followed by an excerpt from the address of Chairman Ismail Serageldin at MTM95. A chapter titled 'Renewal of the CGIAR: The Year in Review,' describes progress to date in meeting the goals of the program of renewal and the implementation of a matrix approach to System funding. Financial information is provided in the form of a summary of the 1994 CGIAR Financial Report.A review of current research activities and accomplishments in the CGIAR is followed by three chapters on issues: Nobel Prize Laureate Norman Borlaug on the impacts and challenges of agricultural research; IFAD President Fawzi H. Al-Sultan on the requirements for new technologies represented by growing global food needs; and TAC Chairman Donald Winkelmann on the 1996 CGIAR research agenda.
