News release announcing the top agenda issues to be discussed at the CGIAR's annual meeting in October 1994. Among others: the necessity to produce more food with limited and often declining natural resources creates the demand for a steady stream of improved technologies to feed rapidly growing populations. The Group will determine how the limited resources of its 17 international research centers can be harnessed to the most needed activities for which the CGIAR has unequivocal advantages. The Group will have take into consideration the changing requirements of the poor consumers and small farmers, as well as the strengthened abilities of national research institutions in the developing countries and the expansion of private sector research activities.
