Oviductal Exosomes

Description    Exosomes are nanosized vesicles secreted by the cells and mediate cell-to-cell communication via the bioactive molecular cargo contained in them. It is hypothesised that co-culture with exosomes can improve the developmental competence and quality of embryos produced in vitro. Buffalo embryos were produced in vitro, in the presence and absence of oviductal exosomes, and developmental competence was assessed. It was found that the cleavage rate on day 2 (84.81% vs. 76.04%) and yield of morula/early blastocyst on day 5 (53.58% vs. 37.14%) was higher in the co-culture group with a concomitant increase in viability rate of embryos (77.92% vs. 62.29%). It could be concluded that co-culture with oviductal exosomes is beneficial in improving in vitro production of buffalo embryos.
