Description |
Doing archives improves the management and operations of agencies or institutions responsible for the preservation and communication of records selected for permanent preservation. In our initial year, we are seeking potential project partners to offer professional training opportunities in a Global Archives Institute. This work addresses the need for certifications through no cost, data intensive learning experiences which help practicing librarians. Everyone benefits from the data produced in the project, as it helps drive conversations and debates that cross national boundaries during times of profound disruptions. The level of commitment is quite modest (about 3-5 hours per year) interacting through our Google + community page (and other digital collaboratories). Of course we hope for more sustained interaction, but we don't expect to add significantly to a partner's existing portfolio of activities. We invite volunteers and staff in your organization to exchange ideas, commentary, and to participate in moving fo rward archival and special collections practices. Many people are already volunteering, donating and contributing, both in the USA and elsewhere. If you would like to join them, but wonder where to to start, add your name to our census 2013.001 charter members http://bit.ly/HhX7oC We look forward to partnering with you on these efforts. |
