Description |
The objective of the intervention, "Break the Cycle" (BTC) is to prevent the initiation of new users by existing injecting drug users (IDUs). PSI has conducted this formative research to obtain actionable insight into injecting and initiation behaviors of IDUs that will inform program development of the BTC intervention. This study used a qualitative, peer interviewer approach to provide insights on the behaviors of, as well as the motivations and barriers faced by, IDUs that can lead non-injectors to the initiation into drug injection. All interviewers that participated in this study had a history of injecting drug use. A total of 18 current male IDUs in Hai Phong and 18 current male IDUs in Quang Ninh were interviewed in dyads/triads.
