Description |
PSI/Lesotho currently distributes four socially marketed condoms, which include: Trust Regular; Trust Studded; Lovers Plus Coloured and Flavoured; and, Lovers Plus. These condoms are distributed through central wholesalers/supermarkets in all ten districts of Lesotho. The 2010 PSI/Lesotho MAP methodology employed the Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS) technique to draw a random sample of 19 urban and 19 rural non-high risk enumeration areas (EAs) from the 10 districts in Lesotho. In addition to the 38 total EAs randomly selected from non-high risk areas, an additional 38 EAs were selected from "at-risk" areas in Maseru and Leribe districts. These areas are categorized as "at-risk" due to high HIV prevalence and high concentrations of mobile populations (e.g. factory workers and mineworkers). Border gates that operate 24 hours are also categorized as "at-risk" areas. For calculating coverage, the LQAS assessment determines the proportion of EAs that have at least one outlet that sells/distributes PSI-branded condoms. In addition to providing a basic measure of product coverage, the LQAS assessment also determines "quality of coverage," which is the proportion of EAs that conform to additional minimum standards.
