Description In 2003, PSI/Cambodia began to procure, distribute and promote Malarine (for treatment) and Malacheck(for rapid diagnosis), thereby providing populations at risk with access to high quality, nationally recommended products for the early diagnosis and treatment of p. falciparum malaria. In late 2006, after this survey was conducted, the program was expanded to include prevention measures as PSI launched two new products: Malanet an LLITN, and Malatab an ITK for the impregnation of conventional mosquito nets. PSI currently reaches 171 malaria endemic provinces with its products and communication messages, which include: mobile video unit shows, mass media, special events and training of private health service providers and retail outlets in correct diagnosis, treatment and prevention methods, especially in the context of the social marketed malaria products. y This baseline study consisted of a cross-sectional survey conducted in June and July, 2006. Stratified multi-stage sampling was used to collect data among 675 respondents, aged 19-55, living in villages classified under 3 domains (high, medium and low risk of malaria) within the 17 provinces targeted by PSI/Cambodia's malaria program.
