Background The Child Care Bureau is housed under the Office of Family Assistance portion of the Administration of Children and Families. The Child Care Bureau’s purpose is to promote access to affordable, high quality child care and after-school programs. Through the administration of the Child Care and Development Fund, the Child Care Bureau provides financial assistance to low-income families and oversees the implementation of state child care policies and programs.User or type and place of care.
