Description |
This study was designed to describe the accomplishments of former Radcliffe Institute fellows and to assess the role of institute affiliation in their careers. The sample consisted of 181 women who were fellows during the years 1961-1962 through 1976-1977. In November, 1977, questionnaires were sent to 443 women who were former members of the institute. Instruments were returned by 195 fellows, 181 of which were released by the fellows for inclusion in the Murray Research Archive. The brief four-page questionnaire included open-ended items on occupation and professional accomplishments, career influences, attitudes about combining and allocating time between family and career, and brief precoded questions on marital status and children. In addition, the questionnaire asked about the institute's role in affecting career development, especially in comparison with men in similar fields. The Murray Research Archive holds all the original record paper data from the study. Original record paper data from this data set are stored off-site and can be retrieved upon request from approved data users. |
