Description According to the UDHS 2011, Ugandan women have a total fertility rate of 6.2 children but 34% of married women have an unmet need for family planning with 21% in need of spacing and 14% in need of limiting. Only 30% of women use contraceptives with only 0.4% using IUDs despite the unmet needs. Uganda also has a high maternal mortality ratio (435 deaths per 100,000 live births) with 13% of these deaths occurring during pregnancy, at birth or within two months of delivery. Since 2008. PACE has been implementing the Women's Health Program to promote use of IUDs. Therefore PACE aims to examine the effect of PACE communications on perceptions towards IUDs. This is a follow up cross sectional survey using structured face to face interviews among women of reproductive age. The survey will compare the target groups perceptions towards IUDs between 2010 and 2012.
